Who has heard of "The Wonder Weeks"? A book by Hetty van de Rijt Ph.D and Frans X. Plooij Ph.D.
I recently heard about "The Wonder Weeks" and got interested in it. This book involves research about the cycles that a baby goes through during the first year and a half of its life. How does this help a parent you might ask? Well it is actually really obvious when you read the book. It tells you all about when a baby is going through mental developmental changes; this will help a parent know what the child is starting to learn mentally AND (what I consider a life saver) it tells you when your child would be going through fussy periods! I know right! This is the greatest thing yet. All of a sudden your child becomes clingy and cranky; why you might ask??!?!? Well maybe your child is going through a 'mental leap'.
If you have not read it you need to, or at least get their APP. It has made my life a little easier when it comes to trying to understand a child that cannot verbally explain what is wrong (well besides through crying). Check out the web page at The Wonder Weeks .
